BATAVIA, IL — Batavia High School seniors have the chance to earn four $1,000 college scholarships thanks to the Batavia Chamber of Commerce.
Scholarships are each up $250 from the previous year, Patch reported.
The scholarships, according to a news release, are motivated by the makeup of the Chamber and its annual awards event, Inspire: A Celebration of Those Who Inspire Us. The scholarships, as a result, are available in four categories — inspiring entrepreneurship, inspiring women in business, inspiring career and technical achievers, and inspiring contributors to a Batavia Chamber business — each with a topic-specific application.
“As a community-minded organization, we were searching for another avenue to support our community,” Margaret Perreault, president and CEO of the Chamber, said in a statement. “Also, in discussions with our member businesses we repeatedly heard how difficult it is to hire well-trained and/or educated employees.”
The application deadline is 4 p.m. March 31, and winners will be notified by email no later than April 14. Officials said the financial award will be paid directly to the institute the recipient will be attending.
For additional information or questions about the scholarship, people interested can contact Perreault at 630-879-7134 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
