Batavia Library To Close Early Due To Snowstorm

BATAVIA, IL — The Batavia Public Library is closing its doors early Thursday due to the snowstorm, officials said.

Its closing time was pushed up to 1 p.m. from the usual 9 p.m. closing time Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Chicago area, which goes into effect at 6 p.m. Thursday and lasts until 6 a.m. Saturday. An accumulation between 2 to 5 inches is expected.

Library staff encouraged locals to check out their selection of books while the building is closed. Magazines, music and movies can be downloaded from the website too.

“From our family to yours, we wish you safe travels and happy holidays!” officials said in a message Thursday morning.
