Christmas Tree Pickup: See When Batavia’s Waste Hauler Will Take Them

BATAVIA, IL — While it may seem premature to ponder getting rid of your Christmas tree, it’s worth noting Batavia residents will have two opportunities to dispose of their live trees for free pickup after the holidays.

Batavia’s waste hauler, Waste Management, will pick up trees during the weeks of Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. During this period, no refuse stickers will be needed. After those two weeks, residents will be required to attach a refuse sticker to the tree and set it at the curb for regular pickup.

All materials, including plastic bags, ornaments, lights, and nails, should be removed from the tree. Live wreaths and garlands can be thrown out in regular garbage bins.

Officials are also reminding residents that due to the holidays, all garbage and recycling collections will be pushed back by one day during the week of Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. All Batavia offices will also be closed Dec. 23, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day.
