BATAVIA, IL — 2022 is just about to come to a close and with it a year of fluctuating gas prices. As Batavia residents gear up for New Year’s Eve activities and the potential for travel, it helps to keep gas prices in mind.
As of Thursday, the average price for a gallon of gas in Illinois was $3.25 — that’s up 2 cents from a week ago and down 54 cents from a month ago, according to AAA.
At around $3.08 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were significantly below the state average. Nationally, the price per gallon of gas is going for an average of $3.15 Thursday.
According to an AAA spokesperson: “Increasing supply and low gasoline demand are pushing pump prices lower. As demand remains low and stocks rise, drivers will likely continue to see pump prices decrease through next year.”
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Batavia is selling for $2.93 per gallon at Walmart, 885 N. Randall Road. Here is what other stations around town are charging:
