BATAVIA, IL — Batavia High School thespians will take the stage four times this weekend to present “Murder on the Rerun.”
Batavia Public School District 101 officials described the production as one that “takes a different approach to a mystery as a ghost tries to find out who murdered her in a witty, sophisticated, yet suspenseful look at the upper crust of Hollywood.”
The curtains will rise to unveil Jane, an Oscar-winning screenwriter, dead at the bottom of the stairs of a Vermont ski lodge. While her four friends and husband say she fell, her ghost claims “I was pushed.”
“Woven through the suspense in humorous, acidic, and revealing comedy is an extraordinary whodunit with a surprise denouement when the murderer is revealed,” a synopsis of the production reads. “All the roles are lengthy with [well-defined] characters. For the unusual and [audience-pleasing] combination of comedy, intrigue, and suspense, this is a must!”
“Murder on the Rerun” will play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets to the play cost $12 when purchased online or $14 via the phone or at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre box office, 1250 W. Wilson St.
