New Executive Director Selected At Batavia United Way

BATAVIA, IL — A new executive director has been selected to helm Batavia United Way.

A Board of Directors member since August 2019, Kathy Evangelista has served as interim director since September. Nonprofit executives announced her official promotion to the role Monday.

Evangelista, who has lived in Batavia for 18 years with her husband and two sons, “brings many years of nonprofit experience to her role as well as an enthusiasm for all things Batavia,” officials said. She has played a “pivotal” role in planning and executing the popular Bat Race each Halloween season as well as the organization’s Success by 6 scholarship program.

“I’m excited to continue to build on the strong foundation of community support that Batavia United Way provides,” Evangelista said in a statement. “I have seen the good work that Batavia United Way does and am delighted to serve in this community that cares so much for its residents.”

In a news release from the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, officials at the nonprofit said they “look forward to a long and fruitful partnership” with Evangelista.
