While passed out, the woman appeared to be in drive with her foot on the brake, officials said. After police attempted to wake her by pounding on the window, they tried entering the car when it rapidly accelerated north before crashing into a parked and unoccupied squad car whose emergency lights were activated.

The driver was awoken during the crash, police said. Officials entered the car, put it in park and shut it off before they brought Samack into custody at the Batavia Police Department.
